Thematic Cluster: Shaping Standards, Creating Measures: Negotiating and Objectifying Scientific Knowledge in Latin America
Guest Editor: Pablo Kreimer (CONICET, CCTS – UMAI, Argentina)
How is scientific knowledge mobilized to create norms, regulations, and standards in Latin America? This thematic cluster invites empirical studies exploring how actors—from governments to experts—negotiate, adopt, or contest measures in health, environment, industry, and social policy. Contributions should critically examine the region’s reliance on international standards (e.g., WHO, FDA) and their local implications.
